Your guide to Chikkamagaluru
Chikkamagaluru is the birthplace of coffee in India, a misty hill district in Karnataka's Western Ghats. The name means "younger daughter's town" in Kannada. Beyond coffee, it offers stunning peaks, waterfalls, ancient temples, and some of India's best trekking trails. It's where urban warriors come to disconnect and reconnect with nature.
When to visit: September to February. Visit during coffee harvest (November-January) to see the beans being picked and processed.
Mullayanagiri Sunrise Trek: Climb Karnataka's highest peak and watch the sun rise above the clouds. A moderately challenging 3km trek.
Coffee Plantation Tour: Walk through arabica and robusta plantations, learn about coffee processing, and enjoy fresh brews.
